CaseMagic and Gemini
Add CaseMagic to Gemini
Give Gemini the case once. After that it can look up what has been filed, tell you what changed, and start monitoring without you leaving the conversation.

What Gemini can do with CaseMagic
- "Check case 1:23-cv-11195 in the Southern District of New York."
- The caption, the court, the judges, the cause of action and the latest docket entries, read from the court source while you wait. No CaseMagic account needed.
- "Explain the latest filing in that case."
- The exact words the court published for that entry, the entries around it and where the case stands, so the assistant can explain the filing rather than guess at it. Still no account needed.
- "What dates are set in that case?"
- Only the dates the docket itself states — "Responses due by 14 October", "Hearing set for 2 March" — each quoted with the entry that says so. Beyond those it computes only two deadlines the Federal Rules fix the same way everywhere — the time to move after a judgment and the time to file a notice of appeal — and only when the judgment is on the docket, each shown with its rule. It works out nothing that depends on local rules or a judge’s orders, and says so when the docket sets no dates.
- "What happened in my case this week?"
- Every docket entry CaseMagic has recorded since then, with the date each one was filed.
- "Keep watching this case and tell me when it changes."
- Monitoring starts on the case, and CaseMagic emails you when the docket moves — whether or not you ever open the assistant again.
- "What did opposing counsel send to my case address?"
- The correspondence collected at the case’s CaseMail address, kept alongside the docket in the same record.
- "Load everything you have on my case before we start."
- The Case Passport: the docket history and the correspondence as one record, so nothing has to be re-uploaded or re-explained.
How to connect
- On a computer, open gemini.google.com and sign in with your personal Google account. Custom apps can only be added from the website; once added, they also work in the Gemini phone app.
- Click Settings (bottom left), then Personal Intelligence, then Connected Apps. On some accounts Connected Apps is directly under Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom. Under Custom apps, click "Add a custom app".
- Paste the CaseMagic address below and click Next. Gemini lists what CaseMagic can do; click Connect. Leave any client id and secret fields empty — CaseMagic registers itself.
- A CaseMagic page opens. Sign in (or create a free account) and click Approve. The page names exactly what Gemini will be allowed to do before anything is shared.
- Start a new chat and ask with @CaseMagic in front, for example: "@CaseMagic check federal case 1:23-cv-11195 in New York."

Google offers custom apps in the Gemini web app to people 18 or over in the United States, signed in with a personal Google account (not a work or school one), in English, with Gemini Apps Activity ("Keep Activity") turned on. If Connected Apps or "Add a custom app" is missing, one of those is usually why — most often a work Google account; switch to a personal one from the account menu. Google may also limit it to some Google AI plans; its own help page is the authority on who has it today.
ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI, Claude of Anthropic, Grok of xAI and Gemini of Google. Logos are shown only to say CaseMagic works with these assistants. CaseMagic is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any of these companies.
For developers: the Gemini API is a different route
Everything above is the Gemini app. The Gemini developer API is separate, and there a remote MCP server does not work: a request declaring one comes back 200 and the model is never given the tool (measured 27 September 2026). From the API, declare CaseMagic as functions and run the calls yourself.
The function declarations are published at /api/v1/ai/gemini/tools: findFederalCase, getCaseStatus, getRecentCaseActivity, getCaseUpdates, getCaseDocuments, getCaseDeadlines, createCasePassport and watchCase. Six only read; watchCase and createCasePassport are refused without that user’s explicit permission, and nothing in the set can take a payment.
curl -X POST "https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/v1beta/interactions" \
-H "x-goog-api-key: $GEMINI_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d "$(curl -s https://casemagic.ai/api/v1/ai/gemini/tools \
| jq '{model, tools, input: "Check federal case 1:23-cv-11195 in nysd."}')"What CaseMagic shares
- The case you ask about: its caption, court, case number, judges and docket entries, read from the court source.
- For a case you have connected, its Case Passport — the docket history and the correspondence collected at its CaseMail address, as one record.
- Nothing about any case you have not connected, and nothing about any other account.
It travels one way. CaseMagic receives the requests Gemini makes to it and nothing else: not the rest of your conversation, not your files, not your other tools.
Privacy and permissions
Before anything is shared, CaseMagic shows you a sign-in screen naming exactly four permissions. These are the four, in the words that screen uses:
- Read the cases you have connected: docket activity and your Case Passport.
- Connect a case and start or stop CaseMagic Watch on it.
- Read the correspondence in your CaseMail address for a connected case.
- Draft a CaseMail message for you to review. It can never send one by itself.
The last one is worth reading twice: an assistant can write a message for you and can never send one. It hands you a link, the link expires, and nothing leaves CaseMagic until you open it and confirm.
Disconnecting ends the access at once rather than at the end of a session, and it changes nothing about your case: the docket history, the CaseMail address and the Case Passport all stay exactly as they were. See how CaseMagic handles your data.
Example prompts
- Check case 1:23-cv-11195 in the Southern District of New York.
- What is the current status of my case?
- What has been filed in my case since last Friday?
- Explain the most recent order in plain English.
- What documents do you have for my case?
- Keep watching this case and tell me when it changes.
Where this stands, honestly
Nothing below is marked as working until someone has connected it and watched a real case come back. The CaseMagic side is live in production; what is untested is this provider's half of the handshake.

What is free and what is paid
Everything about the past is free. Everything about the future is paid. Checking a case costs nothing and needs no account.
Free, every time
- the case caption, court and case number
- the assigned and referred judges
- filing date, status, cause of action and nature of suit
- the total number of docket entries
- the five most recent docket entries with their real text
- a link to the free copy of a filing where one exists
- the time the docket was last checked
What a subscription adds
- continuous monitoring, so you are told about new activity instead of checking
- a permanent CaseMail address for the case
- the Case Passport, which accumulates docket activity and correspondence together
- access from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and other MCP-capable assistants
A free check reads the court source and then serves the same answer for 15 minutes. A watched case is re-checked about every 6 hours. Nothing here is real time, and every result carries the time it was last checked.

Ready to connect it?
Checking a case is free and needs no account. Monitoring starts at $99/month with a 7-day trial, and it is what keeps reading the docket once you have closed the tab.
In the last 14 days the courts opened 11,364 new federal civil cases across 71 districts, and every one of those dockets will move without a word to the people in it. Watch reads yours every day and emails you the change.

Questions people ask before they start
Is CaseMagic listed in a Gemini app store?
No, and it does not need to be. You add it yourself as a custom app by pasting one address, the steps above. CaseMagic does not claim a listing it does not have.
What can Gemini change about my account?
Nothing, unless you say so. The CaseMagic approval page lets you allow read-only access. Starting monitoring or attaching a case to your account needs that permission, and a model deciding on its own that you probably want monitoring is not authorisation.
Can Gemini start a subscription or charge me?
No. There is no tool that reaches billing. If you ask Gemini to start monitoring a case on an account without a subscription, what comes back is a link for you to open yourself.
Will Gemini tell me my deadlines?
Not from CaseMagic. CaseMagic records what the court has filed; it does not compute response dates, which turn on local rules, the judge’s standing orders and any extensions. CaseMagic tells Gemini this outright when it is asked, so that you get the docket text and a pointer to the order rather than a date somebody’s model worked out.
How do I remove it?
In Gemini, open Settings, Connected Apps, and remove CaseMagic. That stops any further access immediately; your CaseMagic account and any case you watch are not affected.
How do I have Gemini watch my case?
Check the case first, free: ask Gemini for it by number or by party and court. Then ask Gemini to watch it. Watching needs a CaseMagic account connected to Gemini, which it asks you to approve once; from then on the docket is re-read on a schedule and you are emailed the day a new entry appears, with its description and the time the docket was last read. It needs no PACER login. Watch is $99/month after a 7-day free trial, $0 today, cancel any time.
