How connecting works
- In your assistant's settings, add CaseMagic as a connector.
- Give it the CaseMagic address:
https://casemagic.ai/mcp - Your assistant sends you to a CaseMagic page to sign in. That page names exactly what the connection will be allowed to do.
- Approve it. From then on, ask about the case in ordinary sentences.
The steps differ slightly per assistant, and each provider moves their own menus. The four pages above say where to look in each one.
What CaseMagic shares, and what it never does
A connected assistant can reach the cases on your CaseMagic account, and nothing else. It is granted exactly four permissions, named on the sign-in screen before anything is shared:
- Read the cases you have connected: docket activity and your Case Passport.
- Connect a case and start or stop CaseMagic Watch on it.
- Read the correspondence in your CaseMail address for a connected case.
- Draft a CaseMail message for you to review. It can never send one by itself.
It travels one way. CaseMagic receives the requests your assistant makes and nothing else — not the rest of your conversation, not your files, not your other tools. Your case records are never published, never indexed by a search engine and never shared with another account.
How to disconnect
Remove the connector in your assistant's own settings. The access ends at once rather than at the end of a session.
Nothing about your case changes. The docket history, the CaseMail address and the Case Passport stay exactly as they were, reachable here or from a different assistant. The connection is a way in, never the thing that holds the case.

Questions people ask before they start
Do I need a subscription to use CaseMagic from my assistant?
Not to look a case up. That is free and needs no account, from an assistant or from this website. A subscription is what lets an assistant connect a case, keep watching it, read its correspondence and load its record.
Can I connect more than one assistant?
Yes, and that is the point of keeping the case record on our side rather than inside a chat. Connect as many as you like; each one is approved separately and can be removed separately.
Does my assistant have to stay open for monitoring to work?
No. Monitoring runs on CaseMagic, not in the assistant. Once it is on, the docket is re-read on a schedule and you are emailed when it moves, whether or not you ever open that assistant again.
Can an assistant send email on my behalf?
No. It can write a draft and hand you a link to review it. Nothing leaves CaseMagic until you open that link and confirm, and the link expires.
Which courts can it look up?
United States federal district courts — all 94 districts, including the territorial district courts. State, county and municipal courts are not supported yet. Docket data comes from CourtListener and its RECAP archive.
What happens to my case if I disconnect?
Nothing. The connection is only a way in. Your case, its docket history, its CaseMail address and its Case Passport all stay as they were, and you can reach them here or from a different assistant.
How do I have my assistant watch my case?
Ask it for the case by number or by party and court; that check is free. Then ask it to watch the case. Watching needs a CaseMagic account connected to the assistant, which it asks you to approve once; from then on the docket is re-read on a schedule and you are emailed the day a new entry appears, with its description and the time the docket was last read.
